Despite of his experience and knowledge performing music of all periods and styles, Carlos Castro focuses his repertoire choice on the guitar works of Latin American composers of the 20th and 21th century.
His inalienable Latin American heritage allows him to express his own vision of that repertoire, which is occasionally despised, abandoned or unknown by other guitarists. Castro decides to renounce to the convention that most of guitarists follow and he would rather promote the most representative works composed by Latin American maestros, to perform them according to his convictions.
The music in Latin America is pretty mestizo and reflects the essence of its three main sources: Aboriginal, African and European. This exciting mixture causes a great richness and magic in its musical language, expressed through the most beloved instrument from México, across Central America and until Patagonia: the guitar!
